Last night was the Media Town Hall, where we invited the community to join us in a conversation about how to establish a robust media education and presenting program. We asked you to share your priorities, tell us what you can bring to the table, and help us develop a strong, innovative media education program.
Thank you to everyone who attended, including Senator Ron Young and representatives of Community Foundation of Frederick County, YMCA of Frederick County, Area 31, 72 Film Fest, Frederick Arts Council, The SQUAT, Castwave Studios, Frederick Playlist, HighRock, and the filmmaking community who shared insights into the state of Frederick media production. The Media Town Hall was an illuminating look at what’s here and what is needed to grow a media program in Frederick. In the short term, we will be sure our fall programming reflects the need for creative feedback, artist community, and project-based learning-by-doing. In the longer term, there was a lot of energy in the room for creative economy advocacy on the city and state level. Look for some action items on that in the near future. What an exciting evening!
