New Spire Arts has created new education programs based on many conversations with artists, parents, business owners, and community members. The fall semester is currently in session, with over 20 theatre, music, movement, and multimedia classes for all ages. New Spire Arts will soon announce their winter intersession which will consist of 12 workshops in December and January.
New Spire Arts is offering two free sessions of classes on Tuesday and Thursday nights this fall. On Tuesday nights, adults can take Frederick Salsa while 5th-8th graders get a taste of Broadway with Musical Theatre Voice. On Thursdays, the whole family can take Percussion Dance together. All abilities are welcome; no previous experience is needed. The classes begin at 6:00pm and require no RSVP or registration.
In addition to 12-week courses, New Spire Arts is offering six shorter workshops in October and November. Homeschooled 1st -5th graders can learn skills like juggling, stilt walking, and clowning in Circus 101 during two November Thursday mornings. Middle schoolers will learn the history behind swing as well as the basic moves in Cool Cats Swing Dance. High school students and adult writers can workshop their narrative fiction in Be the Bard, or learn the skills it takes to set their podcast apart from the rest in Professional Podcasting. Two music workshops, Train Your Voice for the Stage and Sight Reading for Singers, are back-to-back on Saturdays for those looking to sharpen their musical theatre skills.
Classes are held at New Spire Spaces at 115 E Church St. There is free parking behind the building, which can be accessed by making a left from Church St onto Chapel Alley and then another left into the lot.
