Programming Internship

Description

The New Spire Arts Programming Internship provides hands-on practical experience for college students or recent college graduates to prepare them for a career in the arts and non-profit sectors. This internship reports directly to the Producing Artistic Director and offers rare behind-the-scenes access to the creation of an arts center.

Responsibilities include:

  • assisting with event management,
  • managing artist booking and contracts,
  • helping to track expenses and monitor programs,
  • assisting with theatre rental coordination, and
  • providing administrative office support.

Applicants should be creative, technically savvy and self-motivated, with excellent organizational skills and a commitment to following through on independent projects. Media skills are a plus. Attention to detail, willingness to pitch in on a variety of tasks and a passion for performing arts are required.

Internships require a minimum of ten hours per week. Position is unpaid but college credit, community service and/or fieldwork hours are available.

Education Internship

Description

The New Spire Arts Education Intern will support New Spire Arts’ education work through arts administration and assistant opportunities. In addition to providing hands-on assistance and observation of our education programs, the intern will learn how to create, manage and produce effective performing arts programming.

Responsibilities include:

  • assisting with performing arts classes, shadowing teaching artists, facilitating arts activities and working one-on-one with students (ages 5-14),
  • facilitating check-in and check-out procedures by welcoming and receiving students and families in a friendly, engaging, and professional manner and fielding enquiries about our programs,
  • providing administrative office support for the education office, and
  • conducting research on potential partner schools and community organizations.

Applicants should be outgoing, patient individuals with excellent administrative, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and a passion for arts and youth education is required. A background in educational theatre and/or musical theatre is a plus.

Marketing Internship

Description

The New Spire Arts Marketing Intern will have the opportunity to help build the New Spire Arts brand and assist with the creation and implementation of marketing campaigns.

Responsibilities include:

  • assisting with the development of creative and engaging social media content,
  • documenting and supporting New Spire Arts staff at events,
  • researching ways to reach new audiences and markets through traditional and digital media, and
  • distributing marketing materials.

Applicants should have excellent communication skills, be knowledgeable about social media platforms and have an understanding of design and branding principles. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite preferred but not required.

Internships require a minimum of ten hours per week. Position is unpaid but college credit, community service and/or fieldwork hours are available.
